I wrote this code a while ago but it should still be working: String request = "" + method + Just get the xml response from the server, parse it and get a url of the image. The last.fm api spec for Album.getInfo method is pretty straightforward and the fact that it is a REST api makes it even simpler. I hope this helps others who want to use YT music with their own local media and still have album artwork. It shouldn't be very hard to do by hand. Now that the new image is saved and associated with that album you can reupload it into YouTube Music and it should now have album artwork. MAKE SURE TO CLICK SAVE at the bottom of the edit window. Then select that image in groove when editing the meta data. I just save it to the folder where the mp3s for the songs are located and name it like "whateverAlbumCover.jpg". You need to find your own image of the album cover and save it somewhere on your computer. Sometimes even if there was already artwork populated from the internet it won't show up in YouTube Music. Click the image box and add an image of the album artwork. In Groove - go to an album, right click and select "edit". There may be other free programs you can download but I have not used those so I won't talk about them. Using groove is the only way you can add album artwork with the free software provided through windows. You can still edit meta data but the images still don't show up despite adding the images to meta data Using windows media player so I switched to Groove. WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER NO LONGER WORKS USING THIS METHOD (as of April 2022 maybe earlier but that's when I noticed it). TLDR: How do I add album artwork to uploaded music?Įdit: For anyone still having this issue in windows there is a program called groove you can use. Sorry for the second paragraph of ranting. I know streaming and server space needs to be paid for, but $11.99 for a way to listen to my own music seems like a crap deal for the consumer. Additionally, I'm very frustrated that I have to listen to ads before I play MY OWN purchased music. Furthermore I would honestly just use local storage on my phone and another app to listen to music but phones these days don't provide any way to add micro SD cards for additional storage so I'm stuck with more music than I can store on the divice I want to play it on. Any help with this would be much appreciated!Īs a side note it seems like everything in YouTube Music keeps pushing me to use it like a streaming service but I prefer to use my own music catalog and listen to the music I've purchased (I know, I'm living in the 90s here). This won't be an option for much longer and it seems as if that is a backwards step. Is there no way to add album artwork to uploaded music you have? After a quick internet search I found a thread from a year back that suggested you upload to Google Play with the meta data of the album artwork and then transfer it to YouTube Music. Since it is an inevitable change I figured I'd start getting to know the program and try out some features. I've been resisting switching from Google Play Music to YouTube Music for a number of reasons.
